Sciatic Nerve & Sciatica
The Sciatic Nerve is the longest nerve in the body about the thickness of the thumb. It originates at the lumbar spine (L4-S3) nerve roots and runs down the glutes, back of the thigh, calf and foot. When it gets irritated or compressed, we call it Sciatica.
The common causes of Sciatica are herniated disc, tight piriformis and even poor posture. Common symptoms are: Sharp radiating pain along the leg, Numbness/tingling , Weakness in the foot , The symptoms worsen on sitting, sneezing or coughing, Medical Yoga Therapy can be a game changer in the treatment of Sciatica.
