Frozen shoulder is a condition where muscles attached to your scapula ( shoulder blade ) , cervical spine , ribcage and the arm bone become stiff restricting certain movements at shoulder. While there are many causes for it , one of the major causes is the fixity of shoulder. We tend to protract ( forward hug) our arms leading to scapula moving forward most of the time during the day. This creates deficit in retraction movement or abduction movement of shoulder and hence leads to muscle becoming stiff. Read below to know how Rope & Belt Therapy works to mobilize the shoulder in full range of motion
Both scapulae are elevated by upper fibers of trapezius. Prolonged work at desktop/laptop may lead to adaptive shortening of these fibers leading to fixation of scapulae. Scapular awareness ans sterno-scapular movements are enabled by rope & belt therapy to relax the overstretched Trapezius fibers ( upper and super upper ) and strengthen the lower and middle fibers.
Rib cage is an integral part of the shoulder girdle on the anterior side of the body. Expanding our ribcase is extremely important for proper breathing. Certain muscles connect neck and rib-cage and are importat stabilizers of skull. By creating rib-cage awareness ( expaning postures) , rope & belt therapy helps in improving the overall shoulder girdle mobility
Shoulder joint remain flexed, adducted and medially rotated in our day to today activities of various types which disturbs proper posi tioningof shoulder girdle. Cervical traction in RBTcorrects this positioning of shoulder girdle. Modified yogic postures lead to extension of both shoulder joints. Rope jacket position provides extension of shoulders.
Many muscles are involved to maintain the correct upright sitting posture. These muscles need to have sufficient strength and endurance to fulfil the demand. Strengthening of erector spinae in thracocervical region, anterior abdominal wall muscles, arm and forearm muscles and pectoralis muscle helps in restoration of shoulder girdle to correct the posture and healthy functioning of cervical spine.
